Martin Chetchuti and Jesmar Sammut of Despott Installations have been involved in our project from the very early stages. Their vast experience in projects has been a great added value for us. With support of Ing Johan Aloisio, Martin and Jesmar install all the features that will make Palazzo Vittoriosa a state of the art building: - intelligent lighting system / building management system - hot & cold water circulation system - solar water heaters - rain water collection system ( used for flushing of toilets and filling of pool) - internet, TV and telecom systems - CCTV/Alarm/heat and fire detection - under floor heating - Airconditioning system - all 5 bathrooms and 8 toilets and many many other things... Remember these guys when you take a bath in Palazzo Vittoriosa! |

The Director of the Malta Public Registry has officially appointed Palazzo Vittoriosa as venue for civil weddings. So after opening later this year we will not only be the most exclusive place to stay, but also the most exclusive place to get married in Malta. We look forward to making your wedding truly exclusive and special! |
 |
We've reached another milestone in the project: the dismantling of the scaffolding in the central court yard. We finally welcome the sunlight back into the rooms and the yard, and are amazed by the ever changing shadows that the architectural features cast on the walls. After all the planning, drawing and building this week the end result was unveiled. We're very excited about the result and can't wait to share it with you. A few more months before opening... until then we hope you enjoy these pictures. We will post more in the coming weeks. |

This week the last stone was laid of one of the eye catchers of the Palazzo: THE DOME. The old spiral staircase - the inspiration for our new logo - was first operated, then extended up until the new roof level and finally crowned with a dome. Have a look at the attached video, and enjoy the work of the skilled men that completed this stunning job. |
 |
Of course you are curious to see the progress of the works.... Here is a sneak preview! From now on we will post more short movies on a regular basis, so keep checking this section of our site. www.youtube.com/watch |

We are now entering the exciting phase of installing electricity, plumbing, bathrooms, internal walls etc. Every day we are getting closer to the end result, and you don't need your imagination to see the beauty... |

One of the main events on the Mediterranean sailing calender is the Rolex Middle Sea Race. Grand Harbour Marina in Vittoriosa is the host for both local and foreign participating teams. After months of carefull restauration and building the men from Agius Stoneworks Ltd reached the highest point of the new construction: The top of the new lift shaft. The event was celebrated with a lunch on the new roof. The lunch was prepared by Chris Cassar from local restaurant D Centre. All men working on the the project were present, including Rosario Agius, director, Nyal Xuereb, project manager and Alan Briffa & Charles Micallef, the foremen. Like every year in Malta, it was hot in August. But the heat and the village feast didn't keep the men from going on. Have a look at the pictures of the latest works. |

Having an idea is one thing, but making it happen another. To have the right team is vital. We're proud to work with Agius Stone Works of Mqabba, Malta. The team that works on our project is skilled, experienced and highly motivated. It's a pleasure to see that they truly enjoy their work. The team is headed by mason Alan and his right hand Matthew (if he makes it to work). |

The summer months are long for the school children in Malta: the holidays stretch to over 3 months. And as many kids today may now have access to computers to entertain themselves, in Birgu / the Three Cities this is still not the norm. Thats why the Birgu Local Council has taken the initiative (like last year) to organize a computer course for the young children of Birgu. We are proud that the Local Council has given Palazzo Vittoriosa the opportunity to be involved in this great project. We feel that there is no better investment then in the education of the youngest generation. For more information on this project have a look at : http://etfal.com/pgs/mainpage.htm A coverage of the press conference of the Birgu Local Council and Palazzo Vittoriosa: http://www.independent.com.mt/news.asp?newsitemid=107472 |

With the restoration works now 2 months underway the first progress can be seen. Roofs have been removed and changed, broken lintols replaced and stone carvings restored. Unsafe walls have been dismantled and rebuilt. Every day we make new discoveries like hidden chimneys. Nothing is straight forward and evey day we need to re assess the situation and come up with new ideas and solutions. With the support of our building and architecture team we always come up with ideas that make the end result even better.

After 1,5 week of carefully building the scaffolding were completed. Now the real works can begin. In the pictures you can see the dismantled iron railings, the complete ballustrade and the top floor roof. In the meantime restoration started as well: a proof of the craftmanship can bee seen in the detail of the restored stone work round the door to the future first floor guest suite. |
 |
At the end of February 2010 we received the paper version of the approved restoration plans from the Maltese Planning Authorities (MEPA). After nearly 2 years of preparations we can now finally start the restoration works and realize our dream. Saturday 20th March 2010 the first scaffolding was delivered on site, the week after the courtyard was filled with an impressive installation. Have a look at the pictures in this section. |

On October 10th Palazzo Vittoriosa opened its doors to be part of Birgu by Candlelight 2009. The event was a great success, drawing large crowds from all over the island to Birgu. In the court yard of the Palazzo Maltese singer Fiona Gauci impressed the hundreds of visitors with her performance. In the future kitchen Ray Sciberas of 'Golden Island' had a stand with the most amazing bee products. All hand and locally made from the bees that Ray keeps in different areas on the island. For more info on Golden Island have a look at www.goldenisland.eu Visitors could walk around the Palazzo, have a drink in the court yard or the Sala Nobile and listen to the music. In the (future) dining room our VIP guest were able to relax, have a drink and fingerfood away from the busy streets. 21st September a private party was held at the Palazzo. Friends of Jessica and Remco came over from all over Malta and Holland. Although still a building site, the house was beautifully decorated in Purple & Black, and guests were dressed in Purple & Black too. After champagne in the court yard, all 40 guests sat down in the Sala Nobile for a served 4 course dinner. The party went on until the early hours, and will long be remembered.

On August 25th we had the honour to host an event for the NBNM: Netherlands Business Network in Malta. First members had a guided tour through Vittoriosa, with explanations about the history of the city and its most interesting buildings. After that a reception was held in our court yard, and members were free to walk around the house to see the project in its current state. About 40 people were present, amongst whom H.E. the Ambassodor of the Kingdom of The Netherlands, mr R. Gabrielse and the Mayor of Vittoriosa, mr John Boxall. We are very happy we were able to host this succesful event. |
